SCHOOL RULES AND REGULATIONS:
In any civilized community, it is necessary and essential to have rules and regulations which every member must pay regard to Boston high school being a community with people of different social background, it operates strict observance of a set of rules and regulations. As a student, the moment you are admitted to school, the following are rules you must adhere to.
SECTION A: ADMISSION AND REPORTING:
- Admission issues shall be addressed to the office of the head teacher. All students must fulfill all admission requirements spelt out on admission letter before they can be accepted as members of Boston High school – Mpala. Penalty C1/ C2
- Every students’ personal belongings shall be inspected to verify that they are adequate and that they do not include any prohibited items. Penalty C2.
- All students shall report in full school uniform, well tacked in and before 6:00pm. Penalty C2
SECTION B: RESPECT OF AUTHORITY.
- Any order given by the head teacher, staff, prefect or any other person in authority shall be obeyed without question. Penalty C3
- Under no circumstance shall a student confront those in authority. Penalty C3
SECTION C: ACADEMICS
- Class attendance is compulsory and no student shall absent him/her self from class without a written permission from the head teacher or Director of studies. Penalty C1/C2
- Prep attendance is a must to all student’s unnecessary movements or idleness during morning and evening preps shall not be allowed. Penalty C1/C2.
- All school academic tests, assignments, course works, examinations, class work are compulsory to all students. it is an offence for a student to dodge any of these. Penalty C2.
- All students shall be required to have notes periodically checked by relevant teachers. PenaltyC1/ C2.
- All students shall have clear academic performance targets set at the beginning of every term and they shall be revised at the end of the term with the help of the class teacher. Penalty C2.
- No student shall be allowed in any laboratory without the supervision of a teacher or lab assistant.

- Maximum silence must be observed while in the library. Unauthorized borrowing, stealing, mishandling and destroying of library materials shall not be tolerated. Penalty C1/C2.
SECTION D: UNIFORM AND DRESS CODE.
- All students shall put on school uniform during class hours and at all school organized functions within or outside the school premises. Penalty C1
- Any modification of school uniform i.e. shortening, tightening and improper labeling shall not be tolerated and the culprit shall by a new set of uniform. Penalty C2
- A uniform shall be labeled with full student’s name. Penalty C1
- Casual uniform consisting of a plain red T- shirt and a long black skirt for girls and plain blue T-shirt and gentle black trousers for boys shall be won only after classes and on weekends. Penalty C2
- Students shall not put on open shoes apart from after classes, preps and on weekends. Penalty C1/C2
- Borrowing and sharing of Uniforms and casual wear is highly prohibited. Penalty C1/C2
- Any fancy or out lavish wear, including hats, baseball caps, tattoos and the like, are prohibited.

SECTION E: GROOMING.
- Tattooing the body or initiating others into tattooing is prohibited. Penalty C2/C3
- All students shall maintain hair not longer than 0.5cm. Haircuts such as French, marine or clean shaves are not permitted in school. Hair should be kept neat and must not be chemically treated or plaited. Penalty C1
- No Jewelery and accessories besides shall be won while at school and at any school outing. except simple wrist watches, Catholic medals or Rosaries). Lipstick and nail varnish shall not be worn at school or any school outing. Penalty C2
SECTION F: SPIRITUAL AND PRAYER.
- All students shall must attend mass and all prayer services organized by the school. Penalty C1/C2
- Morning and evening communal prayers are compulsory to all students Penalty C1/C2
- All students shall dress in a proper uniform during mass i.e. White school T-shirts and black long skirts for girls and white school T-shirts and black gentle trousers for boys during Sunday mass.

- All students shall observe silence and orderly behavior during prayer sessions. Unnecessary movements, comments during payer sessions shall not be tolerated. Penalty C1/C2Any student found practicing or promoting un acceptable faith in the school shall be indefinitely suspended from school. Penalty C3
SECTION G: MORAL CONDUCT AND SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR
- No student shall engage, assist or force another into engaging in any form of sexual immorality or perversion such as fornication, lesbianism, Masturbation, homosexuality.
- Penalty C3Un healthy relationship between boy and girl is prohibited. A boy and girl shall not be in body contact of any nature, hugging, pecking and all forms of embracing are strictly prohibited. No student is allowed to escort a fellow student of the opposite sex after prep.
- Penalty C2/C3Any student who found pregnant or to have carried out an abortion shall be liable to an indefinite suspension.
- Penalty C3No student shall miss a school function or assembly except with the permission of the nurse or teacher on duty and any student who violates this rule shall be liable to punishment determined by the disciplinary committee.
- Penalty C1/C2Ringing the Bell is restricted only to the time keepers or any other student duly authorized by the teacher on duty.
- Penalty C1/C2Any student who takes, attempts to take or knowingly receives stolen, school or personal property without permission of the owner shall be held liable for the acts. Students shall not surrender their property under threat or under influence from another.
- Penalty C2No student is allowed to cause or attempt to cause malicious damage to school property e.g writing on desk, walls, toilets, breaking desks and windows panes, school fence, tempering with fire extinguishers, electricity or any other installations. Offenders shall be asked to meet the cost of repair or replacement of the damaged item.
- Penalty C2/C3Borrowing and lending of money, selling of goods between students is an offence.
- Penalty C2Sharing beds is strictly prohibited.
- Penalty C3Students shall behave with courtesy at all times. Un wrath behavior such as whistling, hissing, booing and shouting is prohibited.

SECTION H: COMMUNICATION:
- Telephone booth shall be used during lunch time and after classes but not during class time or preps after preps. Penalty C2
- No student shall use vulgar language or obscene gestures. Penalty C2
- All students are expected to use the official language (English) and while at school Any other language used must be prescribed by examinations syllabus and within the lesson time. Penalty C1/C2
- No congregation of any nature shall be held at school without the official permission and attendance of the patron. Penalty C2/C3
- No student shall be allowed to receive or talk to a visitor who does not possess a visitor’s card and has not been authorized by the school. Penalty C2
- A student shall not publish an article, magazine or letter in the press for internal/ external circular or invites an outside speaker to school or hold a party except with permission of the Head teacher through the patron. Penalty C3
SECTION H: BOUNDS AND PERMISSIONS:
- The following premises are totally out of bounds to all students
- Staff quarters. Penalty C1/C2
- Class Balcones and verandas during class / prep time. Penalty C1
- Dormitory area during class or prep time. Penalty C2
No student shall be within the vicinity of the school main gate(s) without permission Penalty C2
- A student shall not be allowed to go outside the school compound without a written permission from the Head teacher which must be presented to the gate keeper for records on leaving and returning. Penalty C2/C3Used permission chits must be surrendered to the office of the Head teacher / Deputy on return.

- Any student who attempts to use un authorized means to forge documents. Stamps, phones to get out of school shall be considered as one who has escaped from school. Penalty C2/C3
SECTION K: HOUSE WORK AND SELF RELIANCE:
- All students shall be expected to observe the elementary rules of hygiene with regards to their bodies and clothes. Penalty C1/ C2
- Every student must take part in the cleaning of the school compound, classes, toilets and dormitories.

- All students are expected to do the assigned house work promptly and diligently and within the prescribed time period. Penalty C1/ C2
SECTION L: PANCTUALITY/TIME MANAGEMENT.
- Punctual attendance at all events and functions prescribed by the school routine is compulsory.

SECTION M: ORDER AND SILENCE.
- All students are expected to observe silence and orderly behaviors during study, prep time, after preps and also during bed time. Penalty C1/C2
SECTION O: SECURITY.
- Possession of any dangerous items such as knives, pangs, acids, inflammable flues are strictly forbidden. Penalty C2
- Fighting and direct confrontation, bullying, teasing among students is strictly forbidden. Penalty C2/C3
- Assault to anybody will be treated as criminal act and unbecoming in the school community and shall cause suspension or indefinite suspension depending on the gravity of the offence. Penalty C3
- Any student who will be found to mastermind, lead, encourage, suggest or plan a strike will immediately be indefinitely suspended. Penalty C2/C3
- Where the strike has caused damage to any person or property belonging to school student, staff or anyone within or out of school, the culprit shall be handed over to police for prosecution. Penalty C3
SECTION P: MEDICAL CARE.
- All students in need of medical attention should report to the school Nurse for treatment / or for any referral. Penalty C2
- Permission to rest shall be granted by the school Nurse or in her absence by the Head teacher on duty. Penalty C2
- More complicated cases will be sent home for better management by the Head teacher or any other person delegated by the head teacher. Penalty C2
- More complicated cases will be sent home for better management by the Head teacher on the advice of the school nurse. It’s the head teacher’s office only to communicate to parents about serious cases of sickness not individual students. Penalty C2
- Students shall visit the school sick bay at prescribed times only except for emergency cases.

- A student shall not use private medical facilities / drugs unless the parent/ guardian notifies the school medical personnel in writing. Penalty C2
- All forms of medication must be handed over to the school Nurse. Self-medication and giving a fellow student medication is prohibited. Penalty C2
SECTION Q: FURNITURE.
Movement of furniture shall only be authorized and supervised by the prefect in charge and the furniture master. Furniture shall be returned to its right place after use.
- If When found guilty of the offence and in case of breakage these are the penalties; –
- Physical replacement of the damaged or lost property.
- Monetary compensation of the damaged or lost property.
- Internal suspension with manual labour.
SECTION S: PROHIBITED ITEMS.
- Students are not allowed to possess gadgets such as mobile phones, pangas, radio calls, T.V sets, Heaters, Simcards, flash, MP3, MP4, CD’S, CD players. If found it will be confiscated, destroyed and a student in question shall be fined electricity usage fee on top of two weeks suspension. Penalty C2/C3
SECTION T: DRUG ABUSE/ ALCOHOLISM / SUBSISTANCE.
- No student is allowed to take or consumer or be under the influence of or in possession of alcohol, tobacco, cocaine, marijuana, kuber, sniffing petrol, cigarettes or any intoxicating substances. Penalty C3
SECTION U: VISITORS
- Every parent is expected to visit his / her son/daughter on the official visitation day, which is announced well in advance for purposes of checking on the students’ academic progress and well- being. Penalty C2
- Parents / visitors shall not go to the dormitory areas and into the dormitories except when they are on official guided tours and visitors shall leave by 5 :30pm. Penalty C2
SECTION V: FOOD
- All students shall accept the type and amount of food the school authority can afford for breakfast, lunch and supper as no private cooking is allowed. Penalty C2
- Students are strictly against consuming any other edible stuff made available by any external vendors. Penalty C2
SECTION W: POCKET MONEY
i Students shall deposit all cash holding in excess of the 50,000/= with the bursar’s office for safe keeping. Penalty C2
SECTION X: SCHOOL CANTEEN
- Students can buy their day to day necessities only from the school canteen during break time, lunch time and after classes. Penalty C2
- A student shall not buy, sell or barter any item to another student or school employee or members of the community. Penalty C2
PENALTIES.
Any student who breaks any of the above rules will be punished in any of the following ways as deemed fit by the school authorities.
Category 1
Penalties in this category shall include;
- Working on the school compound i.e slashing, high dusting, organizing classes, sweeping, picking rubbish or raking, splitting firewood.
- Writing an educative article about the offence committed.
- i). With holding or confiscation of unauthorized items to stop the offender from using it again.
ii). Making verbal or written apology or both which shall be said or read at the assembly
Category 2
Penalties in this category shall include;
- Sending the offender home to return with a parent or guardian.
- Definite suspension pending calling the parent or guardian. This suspension ranges from one week to 3 weeks.
- Physical replacement of damaged or lost property.
- Confiscating of the offender’s property awaiting replacement of damaged or lost property.
- Internal suspension.
Category 3
Penalties in this category shall include;
- Indefinite suspension pending a decision of a board of governors.
- Police action or prosecution.
